Field of research

My research interest is to optimize productivity of yeast cell factories through integrated -omics strategies such as genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics. While metabolic engineering requires the manipulation of a small number of pathways, it is well known that small perturbations to the cell can result in off-target effects that proliferate throughout the entirety of the cell. These changes include changes to flux, redox balance, energy allocation, and physiological changes to the cell as an adaptation to cell stress. My goal is to uncover these changes as they occur and address the challenges to improve the overall productivity of a metabolically engineered cell.
