Excursion to the Northoff distillary on 5th of April 2024
As part of the practical course “Alcoholic Fermentation” organized by the Biozentrum, the students had the opportunity to visit the Northoff distillery in Hultrop (Lippstadt).
After a short introduction about the history of the distillery by the operations manager, Mr. Wischollek, the participants were able to take a look at the family business's premises under expert guidance. Both the fermentation tank with a capacity of 8,500 L and the stills, which carry out fractional distillation with up to 57 trays and thus enable a very high-quality brand, ensured that the knowledge acquired during the practical course was deepened. At the end, the Obstler distilled by the distillery was tasted from the fruit wine that had been fermented during the course.
