Technology and passion for spirits
Under this motto, Dr. Georg Hubmann (Chair BPT), Dr. Marco Aras and Jörg Fischer (both Chair TB) presented the distillation of alcohol. At this year's summer festival of the TU Dortmund University, a 75% alcohol solution by volume was obtained from a 5% alcohol solution by volume in the middle run of the distillation in a model distillation apparatus.
The "wine" (fermented grape juice with an alcohol concentration of approx. 5 % vol.) produced by the students as part of the microbiology practical course and the airborne germs collected on the TU Dortmund campus on giant petri dishes with a diameter of 30 cm also met with lively interest.
